# One stack. Always the same. ==Chosen deliberately==.

Every FWRD site runs on Astro, content via our own CMS, hosting on Cloudflare. Not because it's trendy, but because it's demonstrably the best combination for fast, manageable websites.

_The stack_

## What we use and why.

1. **Astro 5 — frontend** — By default, Astro ships zero kilobytes of JavaScript to the browser. Pages load in under one second on mobile. WordPress never gets there.
2. **FWRD CMS — our own headless CMS** — The FWRD editor is an intuitive editor for non-technical users. Content is fetched via API and available to any frontend — including AI page generation via MCP.
3. **Cloudflare Pages — hosting** — Global CDN with edge nodes in NL/EU. Free SSL, automatic deploys via Git, one-click rollback. No configuration overhead.
4. **TypeScript — language** — Type safety across the entire codebase. Fewer runtime errors, better editor support, easier to hand over if another developer ever takes on the code.
5. **MCP — AI integration** — Every FWRD site is MCP-ready. Generating pages with AI is built in — no re-migration, it works right away.
