Definition
MCP (Model Context Protocol)
MCP is the open standard that lets an AI assistant safely use other software. An MCP server exposes a set of named tools, like generate_page or publish_site, and the assistant may only do what those tools allow. Every FWRD website runs its own MCP server, so Claude can act on your site without a plugin, an API key, or access to anything else.

Connected in about a minute.
Build a site (free). Describe your business to the agent and it generates a real, complete website. You need a site before there is anything for Claude to talk to, and building one costs nothing.
Copy your connector link. Open your FWRD hub settings. Your site's MCP endpoint is listed there, tied to that one site.
Add it in Claude. In Claude (desktop or web), add the connector and sign in with your FWRD account. That single login is the whole authentication step. There is no API key to generate, store or rotate.
Just talk to it. Mention your site in any conversation. "Add a page about our winter service." "Which page loses the most visitors?" "Publish the draft." Claude proposes, you approve.
What people actually use it for.
Not demos: the requests that come up in real conversations, ordered roughly by how often we see them.
- Spin up a landing page for a campaign Ad going live on Monday? Ask for a matching page, get a draft in a minute, publish when it reads right.
- Fix copy that is quietly underperforming "The pricing page reads defensively. Make it confident." Claude rewrites it in your existing tone of voice.
- Ask what happened last month "How did the site do in March, and which page lost the most people?" You get an answer, not a dashboard to interpret.
- Add the pages search engines keep asking for Claude reads your search data and can generate the SEO pages behind it. See SEO landing pages.
- Keep opening hours, prices and services current The small edits that never get made because they need a ticket. Here they take one sentence.
- Review before anything ships Every action shows a card with the change and the credit cost first. Publishing is a separate, explicit step.
Claude with your site, versus Claude next to your site.
Most people already draft website copy in an AI chat. The difference is what happens after the text is written.
| Claude + FWRD MCP | AI chat + a normal CMS | |
|---|---|---|
| Knows your existing pages and tone | Reads the live site | You paste context every time |
| Publishing the result | One approval in the chat | Copy, paste, reformat, fix links |
| Keeps layout and design system intact | Builds with your real blocks | Depends on how you paste it |
| Can read your analytics | Reports on request | Nee |
| Cost visible before it acts | Credit cost on every card | Token cost, unrelated to the site |
| Setup | One login | None, but manual work forever |
Both routes use the same model. Only one of them can actually touch the website.
You stay in control
Claude never acts on its own. Every action that changes something shows a confirmation card first: what will change, where, and how many credits it costs. Nothing is written until you press confirm, and publishing is a separate step after that, so you can always look at a draft before the world does.
The connector is scoped to your own sites and nothing else. It cannot read your other Claude conversations, and Claude cannot reach anything on your account that the MCP tools do not explicitly expose. What is MCP? explains the mechanism in more detail.
Part of a site that improves itself
FWRD sites already watch how visitors behave and propose improvements on their own. That is what we mean by a self-evolving website. The Claude connector closes the loop: the site learns from its visitors, and listens to you. You can read the product side of it here.
It also matters for how AI search engines see you. Pages the agent generates ship with clean structure, llms.txt and schema out of the box, which is the groundwork for getting cited by ChatGPT and other assistants.
Does this work with ChatGPT too?
MCP is an open standard, and support is spreading across assistants. Claude is where the experience is best today, and it is what we build and test against. We compare the two for website work in Claude vs ChatGPT for your website. If you want the raw endpoint rather than a chat window, the developer notes cover it.
The connector is free. The website is what you pay for.
MCP access is included on every plan, including Free. There is no AI add-on and no per-seat fee. You pay for the site itself, and for the credits the agent spends when it builds something.

Custom
Multiple brands, an agency, or something bespoke? We'll build a plan around it.
Credits are fuel for the agent, spent only when it builds or changes something. A new page is about 10 credits, an edit a couple. Asking questions, previewing and publishing are always free.
Hosting included · No setup fee · Cancel anytime · Unused credits roll over, up to 2× your monthly amount. · One site on Free, up to five on Grow; Pro runs an unlimited number.
What people ask before connecting.
Want to see it on your own content?
Mail us and we will walk you through the connector on a real site, yours or ours. One conversation, no pitch.
Which plan do I need to connect Claude?
Any of them, including Free. MCP access is part of every FWRD site rather than a paid add-on, so you can build a site for nothing and connect it to Claude the same day. What differs per plan is the number of credits the agent has to spend, and whether you can publish on your own domain.
Can Claude change my live site without asking?
No. Every action that writes something shows a confirmation card first, with the exact change and what it costs in credits. Nothing happens until you confirm, and publishing is a separate step after that, so a change can sit as a draft for as long as you like.
Reading is different: asking questions, looking at pages and pulling stats happens freely, because none of it changes anything.
What can Claude actually see through the connector?
Only your own FWRD sites, and only through the tools the MCP server exposes: generating a page, editing one, publishing, reading stats. It cannot reach your billing details, other customers, or anything else in your account, and it has no access to your other Claude conversations.
You sign in once with your FWRD account to authorise it, and you can disconnect it again from your hub settings whenever you want.
Does talking to Claude cost me credits?
Only when it builds or changes something. Questions, previews, reports and publishing are free. A new page is roughly ten credits and a copy edit a couple, and the confirmation card always shows the cost before you approve it.
Your Claude subscription is separate. That is between you and Anthropic. FWRD does not charge per message.
Does this only work with Claude?
MCP is an open standard, so any assistant that supports it can talk to a FWRD site. Claude is where the experience is best right now and it is what we build and test against, which is why it is the one we document.
I already have a website elsewhere. Can Claude manage that one?
Not directly: the MCP server is part of a FWRD site, so it can only act on sites that live here. If you want this way of working for an existing site, the usual route is to rebuild it on FWRD first; the agent can pull in your existing copy and structure, which usually takes minutes rather than a migration project.
What exactly are credits?
Credits fuel the AI. You only spend them when the system actually builds or changes something: a new page is about 10 credits, a text edit a few. Previewing, asking questions and publishing are always free. Unused credits roll over, up to 2× your monthly allowance.
What's included in the free plan?
A complete AI-built page, live on your own .fwrd.digital address, with 30 credits per month to edit. Enough to see if it fits. A custom domain and multiple pages come with Grow.
